I acknowledge what a privilege and honor it is to work, live and play in Treaty 7 territory - the traditional and ancestral territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy: Kainai, Piikani and Siksika, Tsuu T'ina Nation and Stoney Nakoda First Nation. I acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis Homeland. I acknowledge that many First Nations Métis and Inuit have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. I am grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. I make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory I reside on or am visiting.
my name is leanne and i am the hands behind kerAMikk functional pottery. my passion for ceramics began many years ago. my dreams became reality when i inherited my grandmother, Ruby’s, kick wheel. today, I am a full-time potter and mother of two fabulous children. the kerAMikk studio is located in calgary, AB.
the name keramikk, is Norwegian for pottery or ceramics.
passed down through the generations, having my hands in the clay is inherently who I am. when you hold one of my mugs, you are holding a piece of my heart. just as when I bake in my grandmother’s pottery dish, i am sharing a meal with her.
combining modern minimalism with traditional ceramic foundations, i create vessels that are pleasurable to hold and invoke a sense of calm. my hope is to offer people the joy of having handmade, local pieces for everyday use that they too can use for generations.
